Belmont Park’s Giant Dipper, a national historic landmark, is in a shocking state of decay. The photos in this gallery expose rotting wood, crumbling supports, and dangerously weakened beams—and instead of fixing the damage, it appears someone is just painting over it.
This isn’t just neglect—it’s a ticking time bomb. With the level of visible deterioration, it’s not a question of IF an accident will happen, but WHEN. The structural integrity of this nearly 100-year-old roller coaster is severely compromised, and without immediate action, someone is going to get hurt.
Maintenance of a historic landmark isn’t optional—it’s legally required. Yet, the images tell a disturbing story: Is the Giant Dipper still safe to ride?
See the photos. Decide for yourself. Then, join the conversation—because ignoring this could have catastrophic consequences.
Is the Beach House Breaking Alcohol Laws with Illegal Raves?
Once the family-friendly Wave House, it’s now the Beach House, trading waves for Raves.
We believe these events require an ABC Type 90 License, which they don’t appear to have—raising serious concerns that demand investigation.
Music over 100 decibels shakes homes, echoes half a mile, and disrupts lifeguards.
Chaotic crowds regularly draw police, fire, and ambulances, straining city resources.
Is the Beach House endangering the community?

Awful Culture With 0 Desire to Change
Manager Food and Beverage Operations (Former Employee) - Mission Beach, San Diego, CA - Where to even begin; Directors who barrade 16 years olds because they lose money from an old machine breaking then demand it work magically anyway. Or we could go with retaliation like when someone reports an HR issue you don't agree with transfering them to a location you know they don't wanna go to so they be quiet. Breaks are a joke in a make believe idea of what other people do in another world. They refuse to allow you to schedule correctly, which causes the needs for temps who you don't know and cost between 30-40 an hour. Inefficient in every way. Inventory is an exercise in futility where you write numbers down so they can claim whatever they feel like claiming and pretend it came from somewhere. Rodent problems are though of as "unavoidable" and when you have them they simply try to seal the rodents into the wall instead of dealing with the problem. Weird that they keep reappearing, or that you can hear them scampering above you? As fun as Mission Beach is, the parking is ridiculously unreasonable. They often opt for using any lot they could for employees to a paid model to once again make money. That is the ONLY thing they care about. They do not care about culture. Any suggestion is met with a "kock it down the road and get through today" approach and we all know nothing happens when you don't address issues. It is the definition of a toxic work environment in every way imaginable.
Hostess (Former Employee) - San Diego, CA - Hated working here because they made me feel uncomfortable. I was always paid very close attention to and they basically picked me apart because i’m a latina and i don’t look like a typical “beach girl”. Total discrimination over there. DONT DO IT.

Belmont Park management does not care about their employees! Favoritism plays a major role in promotions. No matter how hard you work you will not get promoted you will barely get a "good job" from your managers. Most of management is sleeping with each other and or their employees...
